Hello all! Well we didn't fall into the Grand Canyon, just no internet connection!! But did you know on average 7 people a year fall to their death! Accidental and suicide! Seriously folks, I don't know who in their right mind would ever want to end their days that way, or be stupid enough to go out to the edge for that
"perfect" picture! But believe me, we saw lots of people doing it! Nuts!!! Even people trying to persuade their children to get just a little
closer... Social Services anyone?! Anyhoo! We absolutely loved it! We knew it was going to be massive, but you just don't prepare yourself for the enormity of it... as you walk out from the trail, and
HELLO! Beautiful! I really wish we could have gone on a trek to the bottom, but we had the kid, so no can do! The only down side to this portion of the trip was the weather! You can see we had a bit of sun during one of the days, but other than that it was freezing!! Along with thunder, lightening, and hail that would blow Vancouver's doors off!! We decided to do our laundry one evening. By the time we were finished, the skies had opened up, and I swear the Canyon got it's yearly quota of rain! Thunder.. lightening!! It was a bit scary... and of course we were the only two lunatics out there running up the dark path to our camper.... this wasn't a short walk either, about 1/2 a mile! We were running like two crazy people, with the smallest flashlight known to man. Waiting for either the lightening to strike us, the rain to wash us away, an elk to come out of the bush and chase us... or some rabid chipmunk! What a couple of idiots! Needless to say, our freshly washed and dried clothes, sheets, and towels were soaked. We packed it up pretty early this morning, and decided to drive straight to Phoenix!! We left the Grand Canyon at a whopping 5 degrees, arriving in Phoenix with a high of 30! Pulling up to the most awesome campground! A pool, hot tub, exercise room, basketball, badminton, and Pickle Ball!! Don't ask! Looks like we are the youngin's of this campground! I think we will stick it out for a few days and dry out! Maybe get a game of Pickle Ball going with the rest of the gang! LOL!
